£5 million investment

Work has begun on a £5 million development in Kirriemuir which is designed to stop businesses haemorrhaging out of the town.

Delson Contracts Limited has already completed one industrial unit at the site at East Muirhead of Logie, on the approach road in to Kirriemuir at Maryton. Three out of the six individual bays have now been let, and interest has been expressed on others.

Bruce Stott, managing director of the Forfar based company, exclusively revealed plans for the 10 acres site to the Herald. He said: “There has been no investment of this type in Kirriemuir for years. I am aware of businesses which have been forced to move out of town because there just hasn’t been the facilities. We would like to hear from anyone looking for an industrial unit and we will tailor make the build for them.”

Kirriemuir and Dean Councillor Iain Gaul, leader of Angus Council, welcomed the major investment. He said: “In the current difficult economic climate I congratulate Delson Contracts for taking the bold step of investing over £5 million on this project to date, building on spec and continuing, as they have for over 30 years, investing in the future of Angus.”
