THE FORFAR Musical Society is delighted to have reached its 100th year and are inviting the whole town to join in with the celebrations.
On Saturday, October 15 the Reid Hall will be transformed into the perfect venue for the society’s Centenary Dance.
There will be a display of pictures and memorabilia from shows the society has put on for the people of Forfar over years with ample chance to have a look around before the evening begins.
Guests will then be treated to a two-course meal before an evening of dancing courtesy of live band Force Two Combo.
Tickets are selling fast so be sure to get yours as soon as possible from Toy Castle in Castle Street on 01307 463001, Maureen Fenton on 01307 464424 or Claire Rioch on 477878.
Doors will open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start and the meal is included in the £15 ticket price.
But that’s not all. The society will be hosting two special workshops during the day of the dance for young people and adults alike.
Starting at 10am participants will have two hours to learn some behind-the-scenes secrets of the society. The workshops include singing, dance and drama with another focusing on make-up.
Maureen Fenton of the Forfar Musical Society, said: “We want to encourage youngsters and adults to get a taste for what goes on in a musical society.
“If they enjoy the workshops they might decide that they are interested in joining the society.
“We aim to promote musical shows, singing and dancing and provide a range of shows so there is always something different.
“We are here for the community and provide two shows a year - one in the summer for everyone, and a panto which is mostly for the children.
“We just want to keep live theatre alive.”
