The final preparations are being put in place for the biggest Christmas light switch-on event yet in Kirriemuir.
This Saturday (December 7) there will be so much going on before the lights are switched on at 5.45 p.m.
New for this year a market full of the sights and smells of Christmas will be held from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Little Roods and Cumberland Close.
Then after the big switch-on Santa will make an appearance when he is transported around The Square in a sleigh that the Round Table of Kirriemuir has prepared for him.
During the day there will also be a poster competition for the first years from Webster’s High School and a window display competition for local businesses.
A spokeswoman for the organisers said: “There will be an access only road closure on Cumberland Close to minimise disruption to residents and we are liaising with the businesses in Little Roods to ensure they are not negatively impacted by the event.
“We have sacrificed the children’s parade from the two primary schools so they are able to enjoy the Panto and the lights switch-on if they wish - this has allowed us to modify the road closure and minimise the disruption to bus services. Details of changes to bus services will be posted on the Kirrie Community Council Facebook page.”
