When it comes to finding challenging fundraising ideas Shona Scotland of Forfar never struggles.

Last year she completed an eight hour sponsored silence, raising over £360 for Stand Up to Cancer.

And on Saturday she astounded town centre shoppers by climbing into a bath full of beans in the window of the Cancer Research Uk’s Forfar shop - and sitting in it for four hours.

Shona, the store’s assistant manageress, said: “I had to come up with something different this year after managing to stay quiet for eight hours last year on a sponsored silence.

“Anyone who knows me never thought I would be able to do that but I raised over £300.

“This year I came up with the idea of sitting in a bath of cold beans in the shop window and I raised £311.03 for Stand Up to Cancer.

“It was a bit on the cold side but once I was in it was fine, although every time I moved I got cramp in my feet.”

Shona thanks all those who sponsored her on the day - and to those who paid to have beans thrown over her.

These included her five-year-old daughter Stephanie

Shona continued: “She covered me in beans five times so it is safe to say I am off beans for a while!”
