Members of the 2nd Forfar Boys’ Brigade have risen to a challenge laid down by the Church of Scotland to help families in Nepal made homeless by last year’s earthquakes.
The Church’s World Mission Council is asking presbyteries and congregations to raise £500 to build a house in that country as part of a three-year project in partnership with the United Mission to Nepal.
The boys, who are attached to the East and Old Parish Church, have so far raised £750 thanks to a coffee morning on Saturday and a buy-a-brick campaign among parents and friends. This amount will buy one-and-a-half houses.
The Church Guild and congregation have been urged by their minister Rev Barbara Ann Sweetin, who is a member of the World Mission Council, to fund at least two more.
