Assault witnesses sought

Police in Forfar are appealing for any witnesses to an assault that occurred at the junction of Victoria Street and Castle Street in the early hours of Saturday.

The attack resulted in a 35-year-old man being taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

He was detained for a time for observation and later release having suffered minor cuts and bruises.

He was knocked to the ground and assaulted sometime between 2.20am and 2.35am by a man and a woman.

The man is described as being about six feet tall, with short dark brown hair and a tattoo on his right arm. At the time he wore a black cardigan over a white t-shirt.

The woman is said to be five feet one inches tall with dirty blonde hair.

It’s understood that following the incident they walked off into Canmore Street, got into a burgundy coloured taxi and left the area.
