Staff from ASDA in Forfar went the extra mile last week to help tidy up the local neighbourhood and to rid it of litter.

Following a successful appeal in the Forfar Dispatch, they donned high visibility clothing and armed with grabbers and bin bags, they set to for a big litter pick.

The area chosen by the store’s community team was Taranty Road, part of Jeanfield Road, the Boyle Park and Langlands Park.

Andrea Logan, the store’s community colleague said: “Some areas were worse than others and we managed to fill 12 bags by the end of the two hours.

The staff urged members of the local community to get in touch with the ‘A-team’ to nominate a local space in need of attention as part of their national ‘Big Litter Pick’ project.
The New Road store is committed to making a difference in its local community as part of its Community Life initiative by cleaning up its green spaces in order to provide a cleaner, safer environment for local families.
Asda Forfar’s ‘Big Litter Pick’ project saw their specially trained ‘A-team’ out and about between September 8 and 16.

The appeal in our paper and on our Facebook page identified a number of areas in Forfar in need of a tidy up. They included the area around Forfar Cemetery and the town centre.
