An appeal has gone out for photographs of the Forfar area for a 2017 calendar - and there are prizes up for grabs for the best images.

Alastair Donald, managing director of Astute (Scotland) Limited, has called on all amateur photographers to submit their images - with a first prize of £100; 2nd prize of £50 and third prize of £25.

He explained the company has produced a Forfar calendar in the past, which has proved popular with local residents and visitors alike.

However, over the years it has become difficult to source appropriate images - and that is where our readers come in.

It is hoped amateur photographers will look through their files and send in suitable images for consideration.

The A4 calendar will feature one landscape photograph a month which should be submitted electronically as a jpg of the highest resolution possible.

The entries will be chosen by Astute’s technical team; each entry will get a high quality A3 print of their selected image

All 12 selected will be invited along to see “behind the scenes” and watch their images become a calendar on the print presses.

It is hoped the photographs will depict the Forfar area during the four seasons so have a look through your pictures to see if there is something suitable.

Local landmarks could feature incluidng Balmashanner, Forfar Loch, the Botanists’ Garden at the Myre or Restenneth Priory, or perhaps you have captured a hidden gem.

The calendar will go into production in June for sale from local outlets from July onwards.

Photographs should be emailed to by Friday,
