Kirriemuir Round Tale is looking for help from the public to ensure the success of this year’s bonfire and firework display.
The event will take place on Kirrie Hill this Saturday (November 1) and as well as the pyrotechnic display, there will also be live music by musicians from DD8 Music from 5 p.m.
Kirriemuir Scout Group will also be helping out serving soup, hot dogs and other light refreshments.
Neil Entwistle, Kirriemuir Round Table chairman, said: “This year we have spent almost £2,000 on our firework display so it should be pretty spectacular. The event is only made possible by the hard work of the guys in the Round Table fund-raising through the year and by the kind support of local businesses who contribute firewood and fencing.
“This is one of the few local, independently financed and run bonfires left in a town of Kirriemuir’s size. Being independent means the event needs lots of community support.
“Of course we need your money to help pay for the fireworks and donations are collected on entry but, importantly, we also need help in the form of boots on the ground setting up and marshalling the event. Can you help? Seeing so many people enjoying an event that you have had a part in is very rewarding, so come and support us.”
