The 2011 Kirriemuir Splash Relay Swim will take place at Webster’s Pool this Saturday from 1.30 pm.
It’s now one of the biggest, most exciting community fund-raisers in Angus, supported by schools, clubs, organisations, firms and shops throughout the area.
The organisers ask that all team members register at the pool at least 15 minutes before their time slot, bringing their collected sponsor money with them.
As always hundreds of swimmers of all ages have pledged their support and crowds of enthusiastic spectators will be welcomed to give vital encouragement to families and friends throughout the afternoon.
Professional poolside commentary and a rolling programme of celebrity interviews will again be provided by John Neeson former DHT of Northmuir Primary and now head at St Fergus in Dundee.
As always Webster’s staff will ensure that the Splash 22-year unbroken safety record remains intact.
Sparkling Splash trophies in five categories from best primary school performers to club athlete record-breakers will be presented at 5 pm by 2011 main sponsors Guild Homes Tayside, whose company team will - with luck - also be making a big splash in the event.
In addition to the main commercial sponsor, this year a total of 37 shops and firms in Angus and Tayside have already donated more than £2500 as lane and trophy sponsors.
Kirriemuir Rotary Club has again taken a leading funding role.
This year’s target for Splash fund-raising is £10,000 to take total sponsor donations since 1990 to £140,000
Splash is organised by Kirriemuir St Andrew’s, St Anthony’s, St Mary’s and Glens and Old Parish Churches.
