WHEN it comes to concocting new soup recipes, second year pupils at Forfar Academy are in a class of their own.

They have been involved in a ‘Design and Make a Soup’ competition run in association with Murton Nature Reserve, with the winning soup to be placed on the menu in the ‘Tearoom’.

The pupils more than rose to the challenge, giving the judge a real challenge when it came to trying to pick one winner.

Over 200 entries were narrowed down to a final 13 who took part in a cook off in a bid to impress the judge, Ms Judith King from Murton.

Ms King was so impressed by the standard and wide variety of soup that she was unable to pick an outright winner. Instead she picked a final three which will all be placed on the menu at the ‘Tearoom’ at Murton, and the soup that sells the most will be named the winner.

The winning entrants and their soup are: Georgie Noonan (Celery and Stilton), Lisa Hutchison (Three Bean) and Kieran Dear (Thai Green Chilli).
