The WOODVILLE Inn, Kirriemuir, is having a charity Christmas quiz night on Friday, December 7, at 7.30 p.m.
Proceeds will go to the charity sponsored by the owner of the Woodville, Jackie Learmonth, which is known as Pandi’s Legacy.
Jackie said: “Pandi’s Legacy provides the younger children of a small, rural area in Gambia with opportunities to go to nursery school every day, while the older children receive regular, first-class football coaching. In the near future, all children will benefit from attending the health clinic we hope to build.
“The name Pandi’s Legacy arose because while assisting with the building of the new Kunta Kinteh Nursery School and developing the football coaching school, I worked closely with members of Latrikunda FC, a local football club. Through this involvement, I became good friends with one of the players, Pandi Camara.
“A week after one of my regular visits to Gambia, I received a heartbreaking ‘phone call. Pandi and two of his friends and fellow team members had been involved in a car accident. Pandi’s friends had been fatally injured and Pandi had been rushed to hospital where he unfortunately died of his injuries.
“Pandi’s Legacy ensures the memory of this wonderful young man will continue to encourage and inspire the young people of his community to use their talents, skills and abilities to help themselves and to help others.”
The quiz will involve teams of four and will cost £20 per team. Questions will be asked by well known local duo John Pole and Alec Rae and many of the questions will have a Christmas theme. There will also be a raffle and mince pies in the interval. For further information ‘phone Jackie on 07815 622 800.
