The margaret blackwood Housing Association expressed an interest in developing a site at Strang Street in Forfar for the disabled. Housing director George Deans commented that the site was close to the East High Street shops, post office and so on.

The battle for the retention of the North Street Post Office in Forfar was hotting up. The three tiers of local government which served the local area were united in their passionate opposition to the proposed closure of the sub-post office in the town.
