PRISONER ABSCONDS FROM NORANSIDE PRISON

TAYSIDE Police are appealing for information as to the whereabouts of 27-year-old Michael Nicol who absconded from HMP Noranside in Angus this morning.
Prison officers carrying out their checks discovered he was missing at around 1am.

Nicol was convicted at Aberdeen High Court in June 2005 for an assault and robbery.

He was sentenced to serve just over seven years and, after a spell in HMP Glenochil, he was transferred to HMP Noranside in January 2008.

He's around 5ft 8 in height, of average build, with blue eyes, and short fair hair.

He's a smoker and has family and friends in the Aberdeen area.

It is not known what he was wearing at the time of going missing

Anyone who has seen Michael Nicol, or anyone who knows his current whereabouts, should get in touch with Tayside Police on 0845 600 5705 or speak to any police officer.
