ONE of the main talking points in the area this week has been the proposal by Transport Scotland, which had the backing of Tayside Police, to close the central reservation on the A90 at the Lochlands junction.
Whilst Angus Councillors agree the central reservation has to close on the grounds of safety, they are insisting a grade separate junction - which would consist of either a fly-over or an underpass - should be constructed at the junction to enable tr
affic to continue to enter Forfar down the Dundee Road.

If Transport Scotland's recommendations are approved, traffic which currently exits the by-pass at the Lochlands junction will be channelled into Forfar either through the Glamis Road, coming off the A90 at the underpass, or via the Kirriemuir Road via the fly-over.

The implications for traffic in Forfar are horrendous with one Angus Councillor stressing the people of Forfar should not be made to suffer "just to save Transport Scotland money".

The areas worst affected will be Westfield Loan and the West Port, with predicted queues of traffic forming along the Glamis Road in front of Langlands Primary School.

The increased level of traffic, including HGVs, will then have a ripple affect through the town centre and along to the East Port.
We want to know your views.

Do you support the call for a grade separated junction? Would you be affected if the junction was closed completely for northbound traffic?
