TAYSIDE Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision on the outskirts of Forfar in which a horse died.
The accident occurred at around 10.30 pm last Wednesday, on the Carnoustie to Forfar Road (B9128) near to Pitreuchie Farm.

"A small white car, which was travelling northwards, encountered a number of horses that had strayed from a nearby field," explains a police spokesperson.

"The driver attempted to take avoiding action but could not avoid colliding with one of the horses.

"As a result of this collision the driver of the car suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics. Unfortunately the horse was killed."

Enquiries into the incident are being conducted by officers of Tayside Police as to how the horses, which were known to have been secured in a field, managed to wander on to the road.

Tayside Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or seen any suspicious activity in the area, or persons loitering about near to the field to contact them on 0845 600 5705.

Alternatively information can be given anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
