FORFAR MAN SERIOUS AFTER FLAT FIRE

A 39-year-old man is in a serious condition in Dundee's Ninewells Hospital following a fire at his home in Forfar this morning (Thursday).
Officers were called to the flat in Threewells Drive shortly after 9.30 am and found the property well ablaze.

Other residents in the block of flats had to be evacuated whilst Tayside Fire and Rescue extinguished the flames.

The man was taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee with burns to his face, hands, and throat.

His condition is described as serious but stable and he is likely to remain within the intensive care ward for the next few days.

No other persons were injured in the fire.

The cause of the fire is currently under joint investigation by Tayside Police and Tayside Fire and Rescue.
