SHOW OFFICIALS REPORT ON A SUCCESSFUL YEAR

ANOTHER successful year was reported when the annual general meeting of the Angus Agricultural Association took place in The Nova Suite, Brechin on Tuesday, November 17.
The show committee members for 2010 have been appointed as follows:- chairman, Gary Johnston; vice-chairman, Alan Thomson; secretary and treasurer, Joan Keith, Scottsacre, Farnell, Brechin (Tel/Fax: 01356624430; e-mail: joan@scottsacre.freeserve.co.u
k; committee members - Agnes Aitken, Sandy Aitken, Allan Alston, Eleanor Bruce, Alison Duff, John Duff, Gordon Beattie, Harvey Burgess, Marion Butchart, Stewart Butchart, Andrew Lawson jnr, Trudy Lindsay, Tracy Pirie, Graeme Mather jnr, Emma Milne, Clive Mitchell, Ian Morrison, Kenneth Officer, Robert Pirie, Margo Robertson, Nancy Scott, Suzanne Craighead, Gordon Wilson, Ross Robertson and Sam Reid.

Industrial committee (ladies and young persons) - chairwoman, Anne Marie Sim; committee - Sarah Archibald, Joan Bennison, Anne M. Black, Barbara Bruce, Cathy Jackson, Anne Johnston, Fiona Marshall, Alison Robertson, Anne Scotland and Linda Smeaton.

The trophies for the crop competitions were presented on the night to John Thomson and Sons, Lochty, by Brechin, for best winter wheat and Messrs D. A. Officer, Ardoch of Gallery, by Montrose for best spring barley.

The Savill Trophy for most points in the cattle and sheep sections at the show was presented to Drumchapel Estate Company.

Andrew Lawson jnr. received a tankard for four years service on the committee.

The Angus Show will be staged on Friday and Saturday, June 11 and 12 at Haughmuir, on the outskirts of Brechin.
