GRANTS totalling £353,346 have been awarded by Rural Tayside LEADER* Local Action Group to 14 projects in rural Tayside, bringing the total grant awarded to £1,086,758 since the programme started.
The grants will help a diverse range of groups and organisations to move forward their ideas for the benefit of the community.

hmore Vintage Vehicle Club Ltd.
A grant for £65,000 has been given to the Bee Health and Pollination Awareness Tayside project. This project is being promoted by a new co-operative which will benefit both commercial honey farmers and hobbyists, as well as addressing the spread of the disease foul brood which decimates honey production.
The money will help to provide a sterilisation unit for bee equipment and an education programme to increase awareness of which crops and pollinator mixes are good for honey bees.
The Forfar Drug Initiative Group has been awarded £39,141 to develop a structured programme of workshops and accredited training to help young people enhance their skills for life, work and learning and plan for their future.
Monikie Village Hall will receive £13,603.88 towards the installation of a new renewable biomass heating system and the Strathmore Vintage Vehicle Club Ltd receive £42,967.10 to undertake interior building works that will develop the potential of their new purpose built premises on the site of the old Glamis station as a display, meeting and educational facility.
Eassie, Nevay and Kirkinch Community Association received £20,877 to install a professional kitchen, stage and furniture in the community hub at Balkeerie; and Angus Council was awarded £19,249 to promote the Angus Reputable Trader Scheme.
The Rural Tayside LAG encourages constituted community groups, business networks, trusts and voluntary sectors organisations to convert their ideas into local action and to make application for LEADER funding.
