There are plenty of caravans on the road at the moment but only one is a theatre for puppets.
And it is coming to The Glenesk Retreat on Saturday September 10.
Britain’s first ever touring puppet theatre in a caravan has been created by Sokobauno Theatre.
It will be parked at the Glenesk Retreat from 12 noon on Saturday September 10, with performances all day, together with a drop in workshop in simple Victorian toy making with Angus Arts.
The Little Fawn Caravan is a classic 1968 Cheltenam caravan. It has been lovingly converted by Sokobauno Theatre into a magical miniature mobile theatre.
“This is an exciting new project for Sokobauno” said Shane Connolly, musician and puppeteer.
“Over the Summer we have been turning this two berth classic caravan into an ornate little space for presenting puppet theatre
“Over the next few years we hope to take it all over the UK to many hundreds of children and adults. We are really looking forward to bringing the Little fawn to Glenesk.”
The Little Fawn was recently premiered at the presitgious Traquair Fair, Innerleithen, before going to the Edinburgh Fringe.
“I was absolutely enchanted by it” said Jen Tait, of Sunrise in Brechin High Street.
“I had a stall at the fair and could see that everyone loved the caravan.
It’s wonderful that it’s coming to Glenesk.”
Sokobauno makes a welcome return to Angus, having previously brought to the Inchbare Hall its popular shows Invisible Circus and Hotel Marionnette.
On September 10 performances of a delightful new show will be presented in the caravan at 12 noon, 12.30 pm, 1 pm, 1.30 pm, 2.30 pm, 3 pm, 4 pm, 4.30 pm and 5pm.
Funny and moving, ‘Weasel in love’ will suit all ages.
In the community room, the drop in workshop with Angus Arts will run from 12 noon to 5 pm.
