A group of young players from Forfar Instrumental Band took part in the Arbroath and District Musical Festival on March 9 and played very well.
Then it was discovered that the trophy for their section could not be found and they had to be content with a substitute. However, a bright, shiny miniature salver was located and Festival President, Bob Sawley, came through specially to Forfar to present it.
The players are aged between ten and sixteen and some have been playing for four years or more while others have only a bare two years experience.
The Band practices every Tuesday at Strathmore Cricket Club where any prospective player, young or old, would be welcome.
While the three young cornet players do a great job they could do with some reinforcements. A few more cornet players are needed and a couple of trombones wouldn’t come amiss.
Inexperienced players who may feel that they are not yet ready to participate in the main band are also invited to get in touch.
If a few such players show an interest arrangements will be made to help them prepare for full participation.
