The Forfar-Chabanais party from 2016.

This year will see the 25th twinning exchange between Forfar and Chabanais, the trip alternating each year between Scotland and France.

So far this year, a group of 16 people have signed up to visit Chabanais in the Charente region.

The trip will be by ‘plane from Edinburgh, with seven days being spent in France.

The accommodation is with host families.

Anyone who would like to visit France with the group, or find out more details about the trip, should contact Kathleen Nisbet on 01307 468229.

Two Forfar couples, including association president Alice McLeod, visited Chabanais at the end of January for their annual Burns Supper.

As always, this was a lively and busy affair with huge numbers sampling the traditional Scottish fare and whisky along with other tasty French delicacies.

The committee is fund-raising for the next visit with a wine-tasting evening in St Johns Hall, Green Street, on Saturday, March 25, at 7.30 pm.

Aitken wines will give a talk on French wine and guests will be able to sample two white and four reds which have been introduced.

A light supper will also be served.

Tickets are £15 or £10 for drivers.

Tickets can be reserved by contacting Derek Nisbet on 01307 468229.
