Forfar library’s reminiscence group recently welcomed storyteller Sheila Kinninmonth to a meeting. Sheila, in broad Scots, told grown-up versions of some well known children’s tales.
The group was also delighted to learn that they had been nominated by Inverarity Primary School to receive a ‘Partners in Learning Award’ as recognition for their work with the children on a Second World War project.
There is still time to collect the Heritage Week trail - completed entries must be returned to the library by Saturday (September 15) and one lucky winner will receive a prize.
Children who completed the Tesco Bank Summer Reading Challenge at Kirriemuir and Forfar Libraries were invited to attend special prize giving ceremonies to celebrate the end of the Story Lab challenge.
The children in Kirriemuir were entertained by special guest author and illustrator Nick Hesketh who gave an insight into the writing process for the children and some tips on story writing, whilst Forfar children welcomed local storyteller Chloe Foston.
Children received certificates and medals and there were some special prize-winners along the way.
Between the two branches 6,228 junior books were issued during the six-week challenge. Bookbug came along to help the under-fives sing some songs and rhymes. They were then presented with a special certificate and a book for completing the challenge.
