HILARIOUS DRAMA AT FORFAR ACADEMY FOR GAP YEAR

FORFAR Academy Drama Group will take to the stage for two nights next week as part of a fund-raising drive for sixth year pupil Andrew Black.

Andrew has the daunting task of raising 4,880 to fund a gap year to Honduras - and he is within touching distance of the total.

To date he has raised 4,000 through a number of events, and this is the final push to reach his target.

The drama group will put on the show on Monday and Tuesday evenings in the school's main hall.

'The Trepid Adventures of Lord Morrisey Farquar of Haggs the Seventh', written and directed by Andrew, is the hilarious tale of a rich lord who loses everything in the recession, very topical indeed.

The only way to survive is to befriend a street-wise and witty hobo, who helps the lord adjust to his new home, the streets.

Together they take on the world and through many ridiculous attempts try to get back the lord's wealth.

The show is the combined efforts of Andrew and fellow sixth year pupils Lorna Doctor and Lisa Black who helped in the process of creating the production.

The cast is made up first to fourth year pupils who have had a great input to the show.

A great deal of effort from the directors and cast will make seeing the show worthwhile.

All proceeds are going to raise funds for Andrew's gap year to Honduras.

In early August, Andrew, with Project Trust, an educational charity that specialises in sending school leavers abroad to volunteer for 12 months, will be leaving for the rain-forest town of Gracias in the mountains of Honduras.

He will be teaching a variety of subjects, primarily English, to primary school children and volunteering in the local community.

To help raise the 4880 needed Andrew has cycled from Forfar to Glasgow, wrote to hundreds of charities and businesses (which was very successful) and had a ceroc dance night which, he points out, was his mum's idea!.

Tickets for next week's shows are 5 each and are available at the door on the night.

The show begins at 7.30 pm.
