GLEDHILLS' GARDENS OPEN TO PUBLIC FOR FIRST TIME
THE beautiful gardens of Martin and Eleanor Gledhill at 6 Strathview in Forfar are to open to the public for the first time as part of Scotland's Gardens Scheme.
On Saturday and Sunday, July 3 and 4, visitors will be able to wander round the two acres of gardens to raise funds for the Christina Noble Children's Foundation.
Eleanor has raised thousands of pounds for the foundation after a she and Martin saw at first hand the valuable work the foundation does when they visited Mongolia.
She has organised monster cabbage growing competitions, has sold packs of wild seeds and her latest venture selling Lily of the Valley plants has also boosted the foundation's funds.
Her most recent challenge has been to get her garden up to the exacting standards set by the S.G.S. - and she has succeeded.
Now she is hoping for a good turnout when visitors will be able to enjoy strolling around the garden which overlooks the Valley of Strathmore.
The Scotland's Garden Scheme website describes the garden at 6 Strathview as "mainly herbaceous beds with ponds and willow hedge."
It features a grass tennis court, small woodland and meadow, a sunken drinking hole, small orchard. It's a classical garden with a small knot garden.
The gardens will open from 10 am to 5 pm on both days. Teas and coffees will be served and there will be a plant sale.
Strathview is situated off the Dundee Road on the left as you leave Forfar.
