FROM BRIQUETTES TO BUFFALO

THERE is good news for customers at the Angus Farmers Market this Saturday in the Myre, Forfar as Steven Mitchell from Puddledub Buffalo will be returning with his wonderful products.

Water buffalo produce a very healthy meat that is lower in cholesterol, higher in mineral content and less than half the total fat content of conventional lean beef and in the words of the chef Nick Nairn they taste "pretty damn fantastic".

Another stallholder returning to the market is Mark Petrie from the Kirriemuir Briquette Company with his wood briquettes made from dried compressed sawdust.

Mark runs a successful joinery business in Kirriemuir and has turned his waste wood into 100% renewable energy briquettes perfect for stoves, oven fires and barbecues.

The market is now a perfect spot for meeting up with your friends, shoppers can sit and soak up the market atmosphere while enjoying something to eat and drink. This month hot pork rolls with apple sauce or sage and onion will be a speciality prepared for you by James Gibbons and Vicky Evans from Real Food, Inverarity. James and Vicky also have delicious burger and bacon rolls.

The Angus Farmers Market can be found in the High Street, Montrose on the first Saturday of the month and the Myre, Forfar on the second Saturday of the month from 9am to 1pm.
