MEMBERS of the Bambi (Campervan) Owners Club Scotland held a rally near Forfar at the weekend.

They gathered at Foresterseat Camping Park near Forfar.

The Bambi Campervan was produced by “Autohomes” in the UK and the first one rolled off the production line way back in 1986.

It was an ideal small camper with either two single berths or a double bed in the back, and usually a small berth for a child in the overcab area.

They have a fridge, cooker, sink and loads of under the seat storage and cupboards.

They were great campers for a couple or a small family.

Unfortunately Autohomes got into financial difficulties and ceased production of The Bambi.

The last example was produced in 1992.

Brian Rae and his wife June from Aberdeen started the Bambi Owners Club Scotland, and have many members with their own Bambis who all travel to Rallies in various campsite throughout Scotland.

There are many dedicated members in the club who are all proud of their campers.

One member said: “Although they are getting on a bit, we still look after our vehicles and get them road worthy for the next excursion.”

A couple of the club members are even venturing to Holland this year in their Bambi Camper.

Anybody who owns a Bambi Motorhome is welcome to join the club and can view the website -bambiownersclub.com - or call Brian 07963 137 014.

The next rally will be held on June 8 to 11 when the Bambis travel to Broomfield Caravan Park in Ullapool.
