Forfar man Charlie Brown will play a key role at the Festival of Remembrance in Dundee’s Caird Hall on Saturday, November 5.
He will deliver Binyon’s moving lines “They shall not grow old...” as one of the pivotal moments of the Act of Remembrance.
Charlie is well-known to many Forfarians as council officer for Angus Council, a post he held for many years.
The festival is staged by Angus, Perthshire and Fife Area of Legion Scotland, and earlier this year Charlie became National Chairman of the ex-service organisation.
The festival offers not only an opportunity for solemn Remembrance but also a programme of musical entertainment featuring the Central Band of the Royal British Legion Scotland, the award-winning Perth and District Pipe Band, tenor Billy Naismith – this year with his own choice of songs, not “scripted” community singing – and singer/songwriter Amy Hawthorn, who holds the title of the Legion Scotland Sweetheart.
Festival tickets are priced at £5.
They are available from Dundee Box Office, City Square, Dundee or by telephoning 01382 434940 or can be purchased online at www.dundeebox.co.uk.
