PATSY Matheson and Becky Mills will be the guests at Montrose Folk Club in the Links Hotel, Montrose, at 8 pm next Tuesday.
Patsy and Becky are both former members of the all-female Yorkshire-based band, Waking the Witch. They are touring in Scotland and England for three months to promote Patsy’s new album entitled “Stories of Angels and Guitars”. Both Patsy and Becky have great voices, whether performing their own material or that of other songwriters.
Founded in 2003, the female vocal harmony group, Waking the Witch, released three ground-breaking albums and a live DVD. They completed numerous tours of the UK, played at many of the major festivals, including Cambridge, Trowbridge and Glastonbury, and made countless radio appearances, including Live Sessions on the BBC Radio 2 programmes for Janice Long, Bob Harris and Mike Harding. Following the farewell tour of Waking the Witch in 2008, Patsy recorded a solo album called “Little Piece of England” featuring a dozen brand new songs. For the past three years, she has toured in a duo with legendary songwriter/guitar player, Clive Gregson.
In May 2011, Patsy contributed her version of “One More Cup of Coffee” by Bob Dylan as part of an album of Dylan songs which also features Martin Simpson, Christine Collister, and Jez Lowe, to raise funds for Oxfam.
The appearance of Patsy and Becky at Montrose Folk Club next Tuesday will be enjoyed by all who appreciate quality singer songwriters and acoustic music. The doors will open at 7.30pm with Patsy and Becky on stage at 8 pm.
