KIRRIE LIBRARY CORNER, SEPTEMBER 3
AMONG the new books which have arrived at Kirrie Library this month are the following top titles: Relentless by Dean Koontz; After the Break by Penny Smith; Gone Tomorrow by Lee Child; Medusa by Clive Cussler; A sister's tears by Meg Hutchinson; Deadly Finish by John Francome and Top Gear: Daft Cars by Matt Master.
Library staff are currently reading and recommend:
Friends, Lovers and other Indiscretions – Fiona Neill: A group of friends all approaching their fortieth birthdays are all questioning their paths in life - some want another baby before it's too late, whilst others are trying and failing to stay faithful to their marriage vows. They have all been friends for years. A holiday to both celebrate a milestone and launch a new cooking programme for one of the group leads to secrets and past indiscretions coming to light in a maelstrom of emotions. This is more serious than her first novel "The Secret Life of a Slummy Mummy", but equally readable.
Sworn to silence - Linda Castillo: Set in a sleepy Amish town in Ohio, this thriller will have you turning the pages long into the night. Kate Burkholder is Chief of Police in her home town, and she is also from an Amish family but has chosen to opt out of their ways. A woman's body is found in the snow and it displays all the signs of being the same serial killer that haunted the town 16 years earlier. Is he back again? And can Kate catch him? A brilliant read, highly recommended!
Finger Lickin' Fifteen by Janet Evanovich: Stephanie Plum, Trenton's finest bounty hunter is back with a sizzling new case to solve. Celebrity chef Stanley Chipotle is decapitated right in front of Lula when he arrives in town to take part in a barbecue cook-off, and the baddies are out to kill her as the only witness to the crime. Lula is determined not only to stay alive, but to catch the murderers and collect the reward money. Ranger is having a few business problems and asks Stephanie, who is on a break from sexy cop Morelli, to help him solve the puzzle. How many cars will get blown up, apartments firebombed, and pork chops burnt to a cinder, and will Stephanie succumb to Ranger's silent macho charms, or will Morelli win her back? A very funny crime story!
Rhymetime: Rhymetime has recommenced in Kirrie Library on alternate Wednesday mornings from 9.15 – 9.45 am. All tots and their carers are welcome at the next session on September 2.
Chatterbooks: Chatterbooks returned after the break with a fun joint session for both girls and boys. The first individual sessions will take place on September 3for the boys and September 17 for the girls.
