KIRRIE LIBRARY CORNER, OCTOBER 8

KEEN readers will undoubtedly be interested in the following new titles which have been added to stock at Kirriemuir Library:-

Rosie Harris, The Quality of Love; James Patterson, Daniel X: Watch the Skies; John Connolly, The Lovers; A. McCall Smith, Corduroy Mansions; Fern Britten, My Story; Griff Rhys Jones, Rivers; Valentine Warner, What to Eat Now.

Kirrie staff are currently reading and recommend the following:-

Up with the Larks: Starting again in Cornwall - Tessa Hainsworth: Tessa had a hectic job with global company The Body Shop in London which involved 12 hour days and not spending much time with her two children and husband, when finally she realises that she can't carry on like this anymore they decide to relocate to South Cornwall, the scene of many idyllic family holidays.

However, like many people before and no doubt after them they discover that 'living the dream' is not as easy as is seems. House prices are sky high due to 'second homers' and jobs are few and far between, Tessa lands herself a job as a postie and their lives begin to turn around.

As she goes about her rounds and slowly becomes accepted by the locals they realise that their dream has indeed become a reality. Following the quirky customers, pets and not to mention letterboxes, this is a lovely wander down Cornish country lanes that will leave you feeling refreshed.

What to do when Someone Dies by Nicci French: Ellie Falkner's world crashes around her ears the day the police arrive at her door to say that her husband's car has left the road and been found burnt out, with two bodies inside.

Ellie's husband Greg Manning is one of the victims, but who is the female passenger and what relationship does she have to Greg?

Ellie descends into a world of grief and doubt - how well does she know her husband, has he been having an affair, why does everyone think he has, can she account for all his movements and work contacts, and how can she prove that he was an innocent, loving husband?

As she tries to come to terms with everything, and descends into an unreal existence, everyone begins to doubt her sanity, and the more she questions, the more the police begin to doubt her innocence. Another very atmospherically thrilling and compulsive read from the Nicci Gerard and Sean French partnership - you wont be able to put this down!

Vision in White - Nora Roberts: Childhood friends Mackensie, Parker, Laurel and Emmeline have formed a very successful wedding planning business together but, despite helping thousands of happy couples to organise the biggest day of their lives, all four women are unlucky in love.

Photographer Mackensie Elliott has suffered a tough childhood and has a bad relationship with her mother, which makes her wary of commitment, so when she meets Carter Maguire, she is unable to trust him.

A nice "girly" read, this is the first in the new Bride Quartet ,and we are already looking forward to the next title - A Bed of Roses.

Rhymetime: All the tots and minders helped staff celebrated National Bookstart Day at the last meeting on September 30. Rhymetime is currently on a break over the school tattie holidays - the next session will take place in Kirrie Library on Wednesday, October 28 at 9.15 am. All welcome!

Chatterbooks: Chatterbooks continues to be very popular with both boys and girls between the ages of seven and 12. The next meeting is for the girls and is on October 29.

Teenage: The teenage group has now moved to a Friday evening from 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm, and also has a new name - Chocabookychat! The next meeting is on October 30.

Holiday activity: Kirrie Library staff are inviting all kids to pop into the library over the school holidays and take part in their special activity.

Hidden in the library are six pictures of a leaf, each with a letter on it. Find the six letters, rearrange them to find a word relating to autumn, then hand your entry in at the desk to receive an instant small reward! You might also find some interesting books too!
