Hospitalfield events this coming week

THERE are a whole host of events coming up at Hospitalfield House this weekend.

On Wednesday, December 5 there will be a guided tour of the house for members of the public to have an intimate, unrushed, historic tour of the house, its architecture, gardens, collections and interiors. Tours are priced at £6.50 and include tea and coffee in the refectory.

Tours conclude with a discussion on the exterior of the building so please wear appropriate clothing. To book please call 07825 872 370.

All members of the public are invited to a series of open events at Hospitalfield on Friday, December 7, Saturday, December 8 and Sunday, December 9 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The weekend is entitled ‘Know Thyself’ and takes the Hospitalfield collection as a starting point for the introduction of contemporary art within the existing historic works of art.

Doors will be open at Hospitalfield this weekend from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for exhibitions and free tours for children. Opening times are from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On the evening of Friday, December 7 there will be a Dryden Goodwin talk and exhibition. This event has free admission and the talk begins at 6 p.m.

There will be an evening Christmas concert from Saturday, December 8 from 8 p.m. until 10.30 p.m.

Dubbed “The new King of Swing” by the Guardian newspaper, singer Todd Gordon, backed by his quartet, will make a welcome return with his “Swinging Christmas Show”.

The Inchcape Ceilidh Band will be performing on Sunday, December 9 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.

It will round off the weekend perfectly so come along to Hospitalfield’s Music Room for an evening of family entertainment with one of Arbroath’s local Ceilidh band’s.

Admission is free and there will be a bar and also stovies for sale.
