Criminal to miss it

THE STAR of Gregory’s Girl, 1950s mysteries, a tour of Victorian crime spots and a Killer Cookbook are the highlights for crime fiction fans to look forward to at the upcoming Dundee Literary Festival.

The popular genre is well represented at this year’s festival with Sara Sheridan and Maureen Reynolds kicking off the crime events with a look at their books. The latter has written a series of gentle detective novels set in 1950s Dundee, while Sara Sheridan will be introducing the audience to the first in a series of mysteries set in Brighton in the middle of the last century.

The event takes place at 4 p.m. on Friday, October 26. Scottish crime writers Caro Ramsay and Frank Muir will team up to launch The Killer Cookbooklater the same day. They will be joined by fellow crime writers to explore the role food plays in their work at 8pm.

Admission is free, but ticketed. Award-winning actor John Gordon Sinclair will celebrate the release of his first novel, Seventy Times Seven, at 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 27. The gripping story of redemption sees the protagonist undergo a journey to discover his brother’s murderer. Tickets cost £5 and £3.
