Awards night for local Army Cadets

LAST year ended on a high for the 29 cadets who attended the annual presentation evening of the Kirriemuir Black Watch Army Cadets

During the evening a number of presentations were made to cadets who had made their mark during 2011, with trophies handed over and promotions confirmed.

Meanwhile, the Army Cadets in Kirriemuir are looking forward to the challenges of a new year, meeting on Wednesday nights as from tonight (Wednesday) and catering from youngsters aged 12 and upwards. The Award for the top section went to that led by Sergeant Chris Witton, and including Corporal Caitlin Whatley, Lance Corporal M. Davis, Lance Corporal B. McKinney, Lance Corporal D. Mackay, Cadet R. Smith. Cadet E. Wood, Cadet M. Ogilvie and Cadet T. Read.

M. Davis and B. McKinney were promoted to Corporal and E. Wood, M. Wood and N. Smith to Lance Corporal.

Other awards were as follows:- Best Drill, Lance Corporal D. Mackay; Best Sports, Lance Corporal D. Mackay; BW Trophy, Lance Corporal D. Mackay.

Cadets’ Cadet, Cadet C. Winter; Kirriemuir Black Watch Detachment Commander’s Top Cadet, Sergeant Lucy Upton; Most Improved Senior Cadet – Sergeant McKinney, who also won best turned out.
