Linda Sweeney of Forfar was recognised as the Angus nurse of the year. She received her gold medal and Miss Brander Prizegiving at the Dundee and Angus College of Nursing and Midwifery prizegiving held in the Reid Hall. Linda did most of her training at Stracathro Hospital.
The Angus area Tourist Board was firmly established following consultations between the Scottish Tourist Board and Angus District Council. Scottish Tourist Board chairman Alan Devereux said that Scotland had been shortchanged for years because of its image of Victorian hotels and cringing gillies.
