Two adventurous Angus climbers were preparing to tackle Europe’s highest peak in a bid to raise money for charity. Paul Hodge-Neal of Kingsmuir and Dougie Henderson of Monikie, were bidding to reach the summit of Mount Blanc on the French-Italian border in late August.

Kirriemuir woman Hazel Willett returned from a memorial trip to Germany. Mrs Willett was tragically widowed in 1948 when her husband, Flight Engineer Frank Dowling, lost his life when the aircraft in which he was travelling home for leave crashed.

There was an encouraging reduction in problems associated with underage drinking, street vandalism and other street offences according to the Tayside Police Chief Constable’s report.
