Top award for Glen Clova lodges

staff AT the Glen Clova Hotel in the Angus glens were celebrating on Monday with the news they have picked up a top tourist award for their luxury lodges.

The lodges have been named as the ‘Best lodge escape’ in Scotland in a competition run by Hoseasons.

The award is judged using customer reviews and feedback - and it was the luxury lodges at Glen Clova, adjacent to the hotel - which came out tops.

Lesley McArthur, assistant manageress at the hotel who is responsible for the lodges’ maintenance and cleaning, said the award was recognition of the high quality on offer and the dedication of the staff.

She said: “The award is for exceptional quality and outstanding customer service. We have worked with Hoseasons for almost three years and we were finalists last year. However, just because you are a finalist one year doesn’t mean you will be one the next.

“The comments were from November 2011 to November 2012 and we are delighted that we are the best in Scotland. It is a huge pat on the back for the staff who do work really hard.”

She acknowledged the lodges not only brought people to the area, but they visit local towns and businesses thus boosting the local economy.

She continued: “This year has been a busy season for us with the holiday-makers mainly coming from Britain. We have had people from Glasgow and Newcastle and as far south as Surrey, Peterborough and London.”

There are eight luxury lodges at Glen Clova. Three lodges, The Hideaways, sleep two people; three, the Clova Lodges, sleep four people and two called the Glen Lodges sleep six.

All are equipped with hot tubs and saunas.
